Meta Ads Reporting: From Campaign Data to Send-Ready Answers

Data source: Meta Ads

An agency managing paid social for 45 clients spends roughly 15–30 hours a month turning Meta Ads Manager into the narrative section of client reports. CPA went up. ROAS held. Retargeting is carrying the account. The same structure, different numbers, every month.

The time is not in reading the metrics. It is in explaining what changed and why — the paragraph that turns an Ads Manager export into something a client actually reads.

The Meta Ads reporting gap

Ads Manager is built for buying media, not explaining it. Every number is there, but the story — which campaign moved, whether Instagram or Facebook carried the result, whether a CPA jump is real or still settling — means toggling breakdowns, comparing date ranges, and assembling the explanation by hand.

Meta adds a problem of its own: conversions restate. A purchase that happens on day 5 of a 7-day click window is credited back to the day of the click, so last week's CPA keeps moving for days after you export it. A report written on Monday can be wrong by Friday.

For one account, the narrative takes 20–40 minutes. For 45 accounts on a reporting deadline, it is two to four working days.

What changes with conversational analytics

LDOO connects to Meta Ads through Facebook Login in about 30 seconds and asks for one permission, ads_read, which can read campaign data and nothing else. It syncs campaign, ad set, and ad performance — spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, and purchase value, with CPA, ROAS, CPC, and CTR calculated from them — plus a split by platform: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Audience Network.

Conversions follow the campaign objective. Lead-generation campaigns count leads; sales campaigns count purchases. You do not map conversion types by hand.

Instead of filtering Ads Manager, you ask a question:

"How did Meta Ads perform this month compared to last?"

The answer comes back with specific numbers, a primary driver, and a comparison anchor:

"Meta spend rose 6.1% to $9,420 while CPA fell 9.8% to $31.40, producing 300 conversions. The improvement is concentrated in Retargeting — Catalogue, which drove 41% of conversions at a $19.80 CPA. Prospecting — Broad went the other way: CPA up 22% to $58.10 on flat conversion volume. Instagram converted at $27.90 against Facebook's $36.20. Move 20% of the Prospecting — Broad budget into Retargeting — Catalogue and Instagram placements."

That is the paragraph that would have taken 25 minutes to assemble from Ads Manager. It took under a minute.

How verification works

Every answer LDOO generates is checked on three counts. For the full technical detail, see how the pipeline works.

Right numbers. Every figure comes from the client's own Meta ad account, synced on your plan's schedule and scoped to that client. The first sync brings in 90 days of history. Every sync after that re-reads the last 30 days, which covers Meta's restatement window, so conversions that arrive late are counted instead of lost. LDOO never changes budgets, bids, audiences, or creative.

Right shape. Different questions produce different answer formats. Ask "which campaigns have the best ROAS?" and you get a ranked table. Ask "why did CPA spike last week?" and the pipeline finds the campaign that moved most, traces its daily trend, and splits the change into spend and conversions to find the primary driver.

Ready to send. The verifier checks that the answer contains a specific number, a primary cause, a supporting observation, a comparison anchor, and an actionable next step. "Meta performance was mixed this month" fails. "CPA fell 9.8% to $31.40, driven by Retargeting — Catalogue" passes. An answer that falls short is rewritten — up to twice — and if it still misses, it is marked Unverified rather than passed off as checked.

What you can ask about Meta Ads data

Performance overview. "How did Meta Ads perform this month?" — spend, conversions, CPA, and ROAS against the prior period, with the primary driver named.

Campaign ranking. "Which campaigns have the best ROAS this month?" — ranked by return on ad spend, with spend and conversion volume beside it so efficiency and scale read together.

CPA diagnosis. "Why did CPA increase last week?" — the campaign behind the change, and whether spend rose or conversions fell.

Creative performance. "Which ads have the lowest CPA this month?" — ad-level spend, CPA, and conversions. Find the creative worth scaling and the creative that has stopped working.

Platform split. "How does Instagram CPA compare to Facebook?" — spend, conversions, and CPA for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Audience Network, so budget follows the platform that converts.

Audience fatigue, flagged before you ask

Frequency creep is the slow failure in paid social: the same people see the same ad until CTR decays. LDOO watches it for you. Each sync reads reach and frequency for the last 7 complete days and the 7 before, and the All Clients view flags any Meta campaign that crosses 3.5 a week, is still climbing, has at least $100 of spend, and is not gaining CTR. If CTR has also fallen 30% or more, the flag moves to "act today".

You find out on Monday morning which client needs a creative refresh, not at month-end when the report shows the damage.

Cross-channel with Meta Ads

Paid social rarely runs alone. Most agency clients also have Google Ads, GA4, or Shopify connected. LDOO keeps every connected source in the same data layer, so a client's Meta numbers sit next to the rest of their marketing instead of in a separate export.

Meta and Google count conversions differently — Meta's default is a 7-day click and 1-day view window, and it credits conversions Google never sees. LDOO reports Meta's conversions as Meta counts them, so the number in your report matches the number in Ads Manager instead of a blend nobody can reconcile. If you are weighing GA4's own Meta cost import instead, here is what it does and does not cover.

From answer to client report

Any answer that includes Meta data can become a branded PDF report in one click. The report includes an AI-written executive summary, KPI comparisons against the prior period, campaign breakdowns, and prioritised recommendations.

On paid plans your branding — logo and colours, plus your own domain from Growth up — is applied automatically, and LDOO appears only as a subtle "Powered by" footer. For clients who want ongoing visibility, the same answer can become a live client portal that updates with each sync.

The time math

For a team managing 45 Meta Ads clients where each paid social narrative takes 25 minutes:

  • Manual: 45 clients × 25 minutes = 18.75 hours/month
  • LDOO: 45 questions × under a minute = under 45 minutes

At an average agency rate of $150/hour, that is roughly $2,700/month in recovered capacity — before you add Google Ads, GA4, and Search Console reports for the same clients.

Getting started

Connect Meta Ads in about 30 seconds. Log in with Facebook, approve ads_read, and pick the ad account. Accounts that are not active, such as one with an unsettled balance, still appear with their status beside them. LDOO starts syncing in the background, and you can ask your first question as soon as the sync completes.

Meta data refreshes on your plan's sync schedule: every hour on Scale and Elite, every 3 hours on Growth and Pro, every 6 hours on Launch, and once a day on Free. Pricing details show the full comparison.
